Miller, who recorded his seventh career triple-double in Friday’s 105-97 loss to Cleveland, finished 8-of-14 shooting, while Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 24 points on 7-of-16 from the field and 10-of-13 from the line.
"It was a solid game by us," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "After the game last night, to bounce back the way we played, I thought our defense was solid."
Samuel Dalembert had a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards, including seven blocks, and Steven Hunter posted 15 points for Philadelphia, which has won four of its last six games.
Josh Smith netted 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who had a two-game winning streak halted. Marvin Williams added 18 points, Joe Johnson donated 16 with nine helpers and Josh Childress scored 11 points in defeat.
"I think their record doesn’t speak for how hard they play," Smith said. "They play together and they play good team basketball. It’s just frustrating for us to be on the road and win two of three, and to be at home and not be able to get a win."
Kyle Korver nailed a jumper to put the Sixers on top, 27-16, in the first before Childress’ two free throws cut Atlanta’s deficit to nine at the end of the quarter.
In the second, the Hawks got as close as three, 35-32, after Smith’s dunk, but Philadelphia scored the next six points and regained a 10-point edge with Miller’s jumper at the 3:44 mark.
The Sixers led 55-48 at halftime.
A Smith jump shot closed Atlanta to within one at 62-61 midway through the third. However, Miller drained a pair from the line, Hunter nailed a layup and Iguodala made both of his free throws for a seven-point Philadelphia cushion, which stood at 76-69 at the end of the frame.
It was all Sixers in the fourth as they went on a 10-0 spurt — led by Miller’s eight points — to go up 87-75 with 7:17 remaining and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way. The Hawks were outscored, 28-20 in the quarter.
