(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett’s 21-foot jumper at the buzzer lifted the Minnesota Timberwolves to a come-from-behind, 96-94 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at Staples Center.
Latrell Sprewell paced Minnesota with 27 points. Garnett ended with 24 points and Sam Cassell contributed 24 points and 10 assists for Minnesota, which notched its third straight win — all on the road.
The Clippers scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter, keyed by Quentin Richardson’s three-pointer, to grab their biggest lead of the game at 83-68.
The Timberwolves then stormed back and tied the contest at 94-94 on Cassell’s running jumper with 30 seconds left.
On the next possession for the Clippers, Corey Maggette missed a tough jumper in the lane and the Timberwolves got the rebound and called timeout with 5.8 seconds remaining.
Garnett then received the ball and nailed the winning shot over Elton Brand.
Minnesota improved to 2-0 versus Los Angeles this season and has won the last five meetings between the two teams.
The Timberwolves are off until Tuesday when they host the Golden State Warriors.
