(Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves try for their fifth straight win tonight when they head to the Motor City for a date with Rasheed Wallace and the Detroit Pistons at the Palace.
On Thursday, Kevin Garnett posted 22 points and 24 rebounds for his sixth 20-20 game of the season, leading the Timberwolves to a 92-75 victory over the Sacramento Kings at the Target Center.
Sam Cassell had 18 points and five assists for the Timberwolves in a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference. Latrell Sprewell added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Minnesota, which has won five of its last six.
Garnett has posted a double-double in 16 consecutive games and has reached double-figures in points and rebounds in all but six games this season.
The Timberwolves activated Wally Szczerbiak, an All-Star in 2002, from the injured list prior to Thursday’s game. Szczerbiak, who had missed the entire season with a strained left foot, contributed six points and two rebounds in 16 minutes.
Elsewhere on the injury front the Timberwolves could get have center Michael Olowokandi back tonight. Olowokandi has been sidelined since early December following right knee surgery.
Minnesota, which is 16-2 when it scores at least 100 points this season, is 9-3 in games played on Fridays.
The Timberwolves, who will host the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, are 18-9 away from home this season.
