=== Minnesota Timberwolves Team Report - February 8 ===

(Basketball News) - The quickly fading Minnesota Timberwolves will attempt to halt a season-long five-game losing streak on Tuesday, when they tangle with the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

Minnesota’s recent woes continued on Sunday, as it fell 103-100 to the Boston Celtics at the Target Center. Kevin Garnett scored 21 points and grabbed 13 boards for the slumping Timberwolves, while Michael Olowokandi also added 21 points and Fred Hoiberg chipped in 14 in the loss.

Wally Szczerbiak posted 12 points off the bench, while Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell posted 10 points apiece. Cassell also registered nine assists and six rebounds, while Sprewell chipped in six helpers.

The Timberwolves hit 47 percent from the field, including 2-of-9 (.222) from three-point range. Minnesota drained 22-of-25 (.880) from the free throw line in the loss.

Minnesota has slipped into ninth place in the West, one game behind the eight place Los Angeles Lakers. The T’Wolves have been decent against the West this season, going 17-11.

On Tuesday, the Timberwolves will be trying to avoid falling below .500 this late in the campaign for the first time since 1996-97. Minnesota hasn’t lost six straight games since a seven-game skid in March 2002.

Minnesota, which has lost nine of its last 12 road tilts, is 11-12 in foreign buildings this season. The Timberwolves have two of their next three games on the road.

The Timberwolves are scheduled to host the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday and will visit the Utah Jazz on Friday. Minnesota will then welcome the Chicago Bulls to the Target Center on Sunday.

Garnett has posted seven straight double-doubles and has averaged 19 points and 12.9 rebounds in that span. The reigning MVP has scored in double-digits in all 48 of Minnesota’s games this season and has registered 43 double- doubles. He has grabbed 20 or more rebounds five times in the 2004-05 campaign.
