Mobley, Clippers rout Nuggets in LA 01.29.2006

Elton Brand totaled 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Clippers, who completed a home-and-home sweep of Denver. Sam Cassell also had 17 points for the Clippers, who had beaten the Nuggets, 105-87, on Friday in Denver. Chris Kaman chipped in 11 points and 15 rebounds.
"It’s a hell of a two-game sweep," Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We got two tremendous defensive efforts from our guys. I could not be more impressed at how our guys responded."
Carmelo Anthony had 16 points for Denver, which has dropped back-to-back contests following a seven-game victory surge. Kenyon Martin added 13 points and Andre Miller scored 10 for Denver, which struggled by shooting 39.5 percent, including 5-of-17 from three-point range.
The Clippers led by as many as 10 points in the opening quarter and settled for a 28-23 edge after 12 minutes.
LA blew the game open with a huge run in the second. Marcus Camby’s dunk had Denver within 30-27, but the Clippers scored the next 14 points. Mobley drained a three-pointer and Daniel Ewing threw down a dunk for a 39-27 lead with 8:56 left until halftime. A Kaman free throw capped the rally with 6:40 remaining until the break and LA was ahead 59-41 at halftime.
The Clippers continued to pour it on in the third, building an 86-58 cushion going into the fourth. LA led by as many as 39, as James Singleton’s alley-oop jam off a feed from Ewing made it 102-63 with 6:50 remaining.
Shaun Livingston had 12 points and Singleton scored 10 for the Clippers.
