Portland @ San Antonio

Utah @ Golden State

Houston @ L.A. (Lakers)

The Must-See: Houston @ L.A. (Lakers)

Why: This is a tough call, especially with the curtain going-up on a new NBA season. In San Antonio, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and the rest of the Spurs are receiving their championship rings, while the Jazz and Warriors are squaring-off in a rematch of last year’s Western Conference semifinals.

Those games are appealing. Fair or not, our attention will be focused on Staples Center, where Kobe Bryant will reluctantly suit up for the Lakers in their opener against the much-improved Rockets.

Right now, there is a curiosity factor surrounding Bryant and the purple-and-gold. Beyond the usual drama and dysfunction, it will be interesting to see how Andrew Bynum and Jordan Farmar have improved.

After a strong off-season, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, and the Rockets seem destined for a Western Conference breakthrough. Argentine forward Luis Scola will be playing in his first regular season game; the international superstar is a dark-horse candidate for rookie of the year.

i think the warriors are believing the hype and reading their own press from last year...take it from the Clippers...teams play you a lot tougher when you had a good season the previous year...warriors lost by 21 at home to the Jazz .

kobe proves once again that he is a one man team...13-32 from the field...18-27 from the ft line...45pts and they still lost...could be in for a long season .

warriors: do they have that intensity from last year???i mean, the kobe stuff is predictable- he’ll play and score 30 or more, rockets win due to inside presence and veteran bench players. Look for mike james to score 15 off the bench, and look for steve francis to mope from the bench.Peace from Belgium .
