Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, & Phoenix Suns Still Searching For Veteran Post Player

September 22 07
I’m a Janet Jackson fan. I also loved A Tribe Called Quest. A decent old school Janet track is Got Till It’s Gone featuring Q-Tip from Quest. Click the link below and take a trip back to 1997.

I thought of this video surfing NBA links. It had nothing to do with Janet being the finest woman of the 1990’s, really. I thought of the saying, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, after reading who the Phoenix Suns are considering as replacements for Kurt Thomas.

The Suns are considering, hold on, drum-roll please, Vitaly Potapenko, Brian Skinner, and Esteban Batista for their final roster spot. Yeah, the Suns won’t know what they had in Thomas until one of these three stiffs takes the court.

Remember,
Phoenix deemed Thomas, and his eight million dollar salary, expendable, so they dealt him to the Seattle SuperSonics for a trade exception.

Thomas, of course, is a proud veteran. He’s been through playoff wars. And he provided a physical presence. But he was expensive. And the Suns thought they could sign a veteran big, like P.J. Brown, for much less.

That cheap post player hasn’t materialized. And now a contending team is forced to pick up a player from the scrap heap. I thought Potapenko was retired. Never heard much about Batista; Skinner is a half-decent player.

So what happens when the Suns have to play a half-court game? Who will guard
San Antonio’s Tim Duncan in the playoffs? Not Potapenko, Skinner, or Batista. And Amare Stoudemire doesn’t like guarding opposing centers.

This season,
Phoenix will learn that cheaper isn’t always better. And they’ll learn this lesson the hard way.

Should the Suns have traded Kurt Thomas for cap purposes? Get at us in the comment box below with your thoughts.

i would go with batista just becoz of the way he played with Uruguay in the FIBA championships. he posted very nice numbers (20.8ppg, 12.4rbpg and all on 50 percent shooting! good for 4th best scorer in the tournament, while leading all rebounders by almost 3!!!!) although judging how good a player will be on their international game hasnt worked for sarunas jasikevicius... and many more unforntunately... .
