Banks drops 24 as Minnesota wins in OT

Kevin Garnett scored 19 points and pulled down 13 boards and Ricky Davis added 19 points for the Timberwolves, who have won three of their last four games.

Jason Richardson had a game-high 33 points and dished out six assists and Derek Fisher added 22 points and six assists for the Warriors, who have lost their last four games.

Regulation ended with the score at 92-92. Minnesota grabbed a 97-94 lead when Davis connected on a free-throw to complete a three-point play with 3:03 left in the extra session.

Adonal Foyle countered with a slam to make it 97-96 with 2:43 left, but Mark Blount answered with a jumper to give Minnesota the three-point lead back with 2:30 to play. Mickael Pietrus made a jumper and Garnett came back with two free throws to make the score 101-98 with 1:17 left.

On Golden State’s next touch Richardson nailed a jump shot, but Banks calmly hit two free throws with 53 seconds remaining for a 103-100 contest.

On the Warriors next possession Richardson missed a jumper, but Minnesota failed to increase its lead after being called for a 24-second violation.

Fisher drove the lane and put in a layup to make it 103-102 game. Golden State immediately fouled Davis and he hit two from the charity stripe with 12 seconds to play.

Fisher then made two free throws with seven seconds left, but Davis hit one from the line with five seconds remaining and Richardson’s desperation three- pointer at the buzzer missed to finish the game.

Minnesota had a 72-69 lead to start the final quarter, but Golden State started the period with a 10-4 run and had a 79-76 lead after Fisher completed a three-point play with 9:19 left.

Monta Ellis’ three-pointer extended the Timberwolves lead to 84-79 with a little over seven minutes remaining. But, the Warriors scored the next six points to take a 85-84 advantage after Garnett put in two free throws with 4:09 to play.

With the score tied at 88-88, Banks put in back-to-back layups to give Minnesota a 92-88 lead with 1:27 to play. However, after a Mike Dunleavy free throw, Richardson made a clutch three-pointer to tie the score up at 92-92 with 44 seconds remaining.

Garnett could have gave his team the lead, but missed a jumper with 24 seconds remaining and Fisher missed a jumper at the buzzer and the game went to overtime.

Richardson scored 16 points in the first quarter to help give the Warriors a 32-21 lead after the first 12 minutes. Minnesota, though, used a big second quarter and closed out the first half with a 15-4 run, with Banks scoring the last six points, and took a 54-51 lead to start the third quarter.

The Warriors scored the first 11 points to start the third quarter and had a 62-54 lead when Murphy drained a jumper a little over two minutes in. The Timberwolves kept plugging away and on the strength of nine straight points they eventually took a 72-69 lead into the final 12 minutes.
