Bobcats, Magic meet in Charlotte

12.14.2006

(Basketball News) - The slumping Charlotte Bobcats play the first of a two- game homestand, as they welcome the Orlando Magic to Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 18th, Dwight Howard poured in 24 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as Orlando downed the Bobcats, 97-83 at TD Waterhouse Center.

Charlotte has lost two straight at Orlando. The Magic have won five of the nine contests in this series.

The Bobcats have dropped four in a row. On Wednesday, LeBron James had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 104-101 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Rookie Adam Morrison ended with 16 points, while Sean May had 15 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to Cleveland for the Bobcats, who have lost six of their last seven games overall. Emeka Okafor added 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Brevin Knight netted 11 and handed out 14 assists in defeat.

Charlotte is just 3-8 at home this season. The Bobcats will host Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics on Saturday.

Orlando, which is in first place in the Southeast Division, tries to halt a two-game losing streak. On Wednesday, Andrea Bargnani scored 23 points as the Toronto Raptors downed the Magic, 91-84, at TD Waterhouse Centre.

Carlos Arroyo scored 22 points and rising star Dwight Howard had 17 points and 13 boards in the loss to Toronto for the Magic, who finished a four-game homestand with a 1-3 record.

Point guard Jameer Nelson did not play for Orlando against Toronto because of a groin pull, while forward Grant Hill left Wednesday’s loss with left knee tendinitis in the third quarter and did not return. Hill is doubtful, while Nelson is expected to miss tonight’s contest.

The Magic are 7-5 on the road this season. After tonight’s contest, they return home to host the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets and the Golden State Warriors.
