|
(Basketball News) - The Sacramento Kings lost to Pacific Division rival Sacramento, 83-81, on Friday at the Rose Garden.
Peja Stojakovic led the Kings with 18 points. Chris Webber recorded 16 points, while Mike Bibby added 12 for Sacramento, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.
With 4:16 remaining in the game, Zach Randolph completed a huge three-point play for an 81-77 Portland lead. Webber then knocked down a 15-foot jumper to pull the Kings within 81-79.
Bibby then tied the game at 81 apiece with a driving layup off a nice feed from Webber. Randolph countered with a jumper and Portland had a two-point lead.
The Kings had a chance to either tie or win, but Doug Christie’s desperation three glanced off the rim. Stojakovic grabbed the rebound along the baseline but missed on a shot from behind the backboard.
Stojakovic has scored in double digits in 15 straight games. He has averaged 24.2 points in that span.
Sacramento is off until Sunday when it hosts the San Antonio Spurs. The Kings are 1-1 against San Antonio this season. The teams will play again on March 31st at the SBC Center.
