Sixers exercise option on Salmons

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers exercised a fourth- year contract option on guard John Salmons Thursday.

Salmons, who is now under contract through the 2005-06 season, has averaged 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 141 career games with the Sixers.

A first-round draft pick by San Antonio in 2002, the 24-year-old Salmons has averaged better than six points per game so far this preseason.
