Sonics try to make it three straight wins

11.13.2006

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics go for their third straight win when they visit the New Jersey Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.

Seattle wraps up a five-game road trip. It is 2-2 on the swing. All-Star Ray Allen poured in 33 points, including the game-winning layup with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the SuperSonics to a 113-112 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday at Philips Arena.

Rashard Lewis scored 23 in the win over the Hawks for Seattle, which won its second game in a row. Point guard Luke Ridnour netted 19 for the Sonics, while Chris Wilcox had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds in the victory.

After tonight’s, Seattle returns home for a two-game stand. The SuperSonics will host Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday and the Utah Jazz on Friday.

The SuperSonics are 2-3 on the road this season.

New Jersey, which starts a brief two-game homestand, will attempt to win its second straight game. On Sunday, Vince Carter hit a buzzer-beater three- pointer to send the game into overtime and scored six points in the extra session, as the Nets pulled out a 105-93 win over the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

Carter finished with a game-high 34 points and Nenad Krstic added 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Washington for the Nets, who blew a 14-point halftime lead but managed to salvage the win. Jason Kidd had a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 18 assists.

The Nets are 2-1 at home this season. They are scheduled to host Michael Redd and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday at the Meadowlands.

Seattle and the Nets split a pair of contests in 2005-06. The SuperSonics have dropped five of their last six at New Jersey.
