Suns land Piatkowski

07.13.2006

Phoenix, AZ (Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns signed unrestricted free agent guard/forward Eric Piatkowski to a two-year contract on Thursday.

The 6-7, 215-pounder owns a .399 career three-point percentage, which is tied for eighth amongst active players. He has averaged 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds over his 12-year career with the L.A. Clippers, Houston and Chicago.

"We’re happy to have added experience and one of the NBA’s best shooters to our team as we pursue the goal of winning an NBA championship," said Suns head coach and general manager Mike D’Antoni.

Piatkowski, 35, averaged just 2.0 points and .8 rebounds in a career-low 29 games for Chicago last season.

He was drafted 15th overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and was then traded to the Clippers, where he set franchise records for most three-point field goals made (738), attempted (1,835) and three-point percentage (.402) in nine seasons.
