The injury occurred late in the second quarter when O’Neal drove the lane and was hit on the right arm by Denver’s Francisco Elson. O’Neal grabbed his arm in obvious pain, but stayed in to convert both foul shots with his left hand. He then headed to the locker room for treatment, but no word was given on the extent of the injury.
O’Neal had 11 points and five rebounds before leaving the contest.
O’Neal, who made the All-Star Game as a reserve this season, was the Pacers’ leading scorer after coming into the contest with 21.5 points per game. He was also averaging 9.1 rebounds and 2.15 blocks in 40 games.
