(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Denver Nuggets, 86-77, on Friday at the Wachovia Center.
Kenny Thomas scored 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds for the 76ers, who had their season-high three-game winning streak come to an end. Allen Iverson contributed 18 points and Eric Snow added 14 with 11 assists in a losing effort.
The Nuggets took the lead midway through the second quarter, 36-35, on a three-point play by Nene and led the rest of the way. The Denver margin grew to 11 at halftime and it held a seven-point edge heading into the final quarter.
A basket by Earl Boykins game Denver a 70-61 advantage, but the Sixers would get within five, 78-73, on a three-pointer by Iverson with just over three minutes remaining in the contest.
The Sixers would not get any closer, as Denver would put the game away by scoring eight of the final 12 points in the game.
Glenn Robinson returned to the Sixers’ lineup after missing the last 15 games with an ankle injury. He scored six points in 27 minutes.
Sixers center Derrick Coleman hyperextended his left knee early in the third quarter and didn’t return.
The 76ers are off until Sunday when they host the Utah Jazz.
