(Basketball News) - Amare Stoudemire poured in 36 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out eight assists to lead Phoenix to a 115-106 win over Charlotte at America West Arena.
Quentin Richardson and Shawn Marion both scored 20 points for the Suns, who have won four straight games. Marion also hauled in eight boards.
Steve Nash had nine points and a game-high 14 assists for Phoenix, which matched the best start in team history. The 1980-81 Suns also began 17-3.
The Suns extended their lead to 79-66 on Marion’s basket early in the third and maintained a double-digit lead for the majority of the quarter. Phoenix eventually led 93-79 after three.
The Bobcats never seriously threatened in the fourth quarter and did not get any closer than seven points in the final period.
Phoenix returns to action on Monday against the Utah Jazz.
