Pistons welcome Nets to The Palace

12.26.2006

(Basketball News) - The Central Division-leading Detroit Pistons aim for their fifth straight win when they host the New Jersey Nets tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Detroit, which owns a two-game lead over Chicago in the division, has won six of its last seven games, including Saturday’s 108-81 pounding of the Atlanta Hawks at home. Nazr Mohammed scored a season-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Detroit.

Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton each netted 16 points for the Pistons, who are 8-3 as the host this season. Jason Maxiell added 14 points and Ronald Murray donated 11 in the win.

Meanwhile, the Nets have lost two straight and four of their last six games overall. They are tied with Boston at a half game behind Toronto for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.

In Saturday’s 115-104 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center, Eddie House scored 22 points and Jason Kidd posted 21 points and 11 assists as New Jersey fell to 3-7 away from home this season.

Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter both added 18 points for New Jersey, which played its first game without center Nenad Krstic, who was lost for the season on Friday night with a torn ACL in his knee.

The Nets lost to Detroit on December 16th this season by a 90-82 score at Continental Airlines Arena. The Pistons have won two of three and six of the last nine meetings with the Nets.

New Jersey has lost five of seven and 19 of its last 22 trips to Motown.
