Report: Knicks acquire Rose from Raptors

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - According to a published report, the New York Knicks traded center Antonio Davis to the Toronto Raptors on Friday in exchange for forward Jalen Rose and a 2006 first-round draft choice.

The Toronto Star is reporting the deal on its Web site Friday afternoon.

Rose, who has one more year left on his contract for a reported $16.9 million, appeared in 46 games this season with Toronto, averaging 12.1 points and 2.8 rebounds.

In his 12th NBA season, Rose has averaged 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls.

Davis has played in just 36 games this season, averaging 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He has appeared in just one game since returning from his five-game league imposed suspension for going into the crowd in Chicago to aid his wife who was involved in an altercation with a fan.

Davis, who played for the Raptors for four-plus seasons starting in 1999, is in his 13th NBA season. He has averaged 10.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest while also playing for the Pacers and Bulls.

Davis’ current contract expires at the end of this season.

The draft pick New York receives belonged to Denver. Toronto acquired it in an earlier trade.

The Knicks and Raptors face each other Friday night at Air Canada Centre.
