Phoenix Suns Team Report - March 1 03.1.2004

(Basketball News) - Phoenix came up short Sunday night, dropping a 108-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena.
Amare Stoudemire tied a season high with 33 points, on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, and hauled in 17 rebounds before fouling out for the Suns, who suffered their eight straight loss in Sacramento and fell for the first time in three games overall.
Stoudemire has led the Suns in scoring the past nine games, getting 20 points or more each time.
Leandro Barbosa and Shawn Marion each contributed 14 points. Marion added nine rebounds for the Suns, who have just one win in their last eight road games.
The Suns shot 42.5 percent from the field and committed 14 turnovers in the contest.
A layup by Stoudemire less than three minutes into the third trimmed the Suns’ deficit to 57-51. But Sacramento opened a 75-59 edge on two free throws by Peja Stojakovic with less than five minutes remaining in the quarter and the Suns couldn’t get closer than nine down the stretch.
The Suns have a couple days off before facing the New Jersey Nets at America West Arena Wednesday night. Phoenix’s next two contests will be at its friendly confines.
Phoenix dropped a 99-88 decision to the Nets on December 6 at Continental Airlines Arena.
