Rockets start homestand versus Bobcats

01.25.2006

(Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets begin a three-game homestand when they welcome the slumping Charlotte Bobcats tonight to the Toyota Center.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 10th, Gerald Wallace had 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Emeka Okafor scored 21 points as Charlotte outlasted Houston, 111-106, in double overtime at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

The Bobcats have won all three meetings between the clubs.

Houston returns home after going 2-1 on a three-game road trip. Tracy McGrady exploded for 41 points and eight rebounds as the Rockets beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 97-80, on Monday at the Bradley Center.

David Wesley notched 17 points, Juwan Howard posted 12 points and Rafer Alston netted 11 in the win over Milwaukee for the Rockets, who are just 4-8 in their last 12 games overall.

The Rockets are a dismal 3-13 as the host this season. They have lost seven in a row at home and last won at the Toyota Center on December 6th against the Boston Celtics.

Houston will also host the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Miami Heat on its current stand.

The Bobcats have lost eight in a row and play the finale of a three-game road trip. On Tuesday, Beno Udrih scored 17 points off the bench and Tim Duncan had 14 along with nine rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs routed Charlotte, 104-76, at the AT&T Center.

Jumaine Jones led the Bobcats with 15 points in the loss to San Antonio, while Primoz Brezec and Matt Carroll each both netted 13 for Charlotte, which has dropped 12 of its last 13 overall.

Charlotte is a brutal 4-19 on the road this season. It has also lost eight straight as the visitor.

The Bobcats also lost eight straight games earlier this season from November 29 to December 13.
