Seattle SuperSonics Team Report - February 22

(Basketball News) - Rashard Lewis scored 28 points and Ray Allen added 20 with 10 assists, leading the Seattle SuperSonics to a 108-87 dismantling of the reeling Boston Celtics at KeyArena.

The SuperSonics, who fell just one three-pointer shy of an NBA record by finishing 18-of-33 from beyond the arc. Atlanta set an NBA record with 19 three-pointers in a game at Dallas on December 17, 1996. The Mavericks are the only other team to have 18 threes in a game, and they’ve done it three times

Seattle carried a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter and put the game away by hitting eight of its final 11 shot from beyond the arc. Rookie Luke Ridnour scored 13 of his 15 points in the period. The Sonics led by as many as 23 points late, but the beginning of the game was more competitive.

The SuperSonics halted a three-game losing streak to Boston and won for just the second time in its last eight meetings with the Celtics. Seattle improved to 16-14 as the host this season.

Lewis has scored in double digits in 18 straight games. In his last five contests, Lewis is averaging 19 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He has played 30 or minutes in 29 of his last 31 games.

The Sonics are off until Tuesday when they play the first of a home-and-home set at Utah against the Jazz. Earlier this season, the Sonics lost to the Jazz, 98-81, on November 28, 2003 at the Delta Center.
