(Basketball News) - Jamaal Magloire hit a 12-foot jumper as time expired in the fourth quarter to give the New Orleans Hornets an 82-81 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday at New Orleans Arena. Magloire finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while David Wesley led the Hornets with 19 points.
Darrell Armstrong contributed 14 points off the bench and Baron Davis had 12 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists before leaving with an ankle injury. The Hornets won for just the second time in five games.
New Orleans is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race, 1 1/2 games ahead of the fifth-place Milwaukee Bucks.
The Hornets are off until Thursday when they visit the Atlanta Hawks. It will be the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The Hornets are 2-1 against Atlanta.
Magloire has posted a double-double in consecutive games. He has averaged 20 points and 15.5 rebounds in that span.
