Nowitzki sidelined with knee injury

Houston, TX (Basketball News) - Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki missed Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets because of a knee injury.

The 26-year-old Nowitzki apparently hurt his knee during Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He played 42 minutes in the 108-103 setback and collected 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Nowitzki, who also missed a contest in November due to an ankle injury, is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on Monday. In 56 games this season, he is averaging 26.9 points and 10.1 rebounds — both team-highs.

Meanwhile, guard Michael Finley sat out his second straight game with a bruised left calf. Finley is averaging 17.6 points over 41 contests this season.
