Pacers open homestand vs. Orlando

03.13.2006

(Basketball News) - The Indiana Pacers open a four-game homestand tonight when they host the Orlando Magic at Conseco Fieldhouse.

The fifth-seeded Pacers have lost three of their last four games, including Sunday’s 93-89 loss to the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre. Stephen Jackson scored 26 points and Jeff Foster had 19 points in the loss.

Indiana will host Orlando tonight before Denver, Sacramento and Boston visit Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Pacers have lost their last two home games, but have an 18-10 record as the host this season.

Orlando, meanwhile, has won two in a row after a six-game losing streak.

After ending the skid on Friday against Cleveland, the Magic made it two straight wins with Saturday’s 103-92 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Hedo Turkoglu posted 21 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, while Keyon Dooling added 13 points for the Magic, who have won consecutive games for the first time since January.

The Magic, though, will hit the road to try and end a 13-game losing streak away from TD Waterhouse Centre. The last time Orlando won on the road was a 119-115 overtime win at Philadelphia on January 26.

Orlando is also two losses from matching the franchise record of 15 set during the inaugural 1989-90 season.

Indiana won the first meeting of the 2005-06 season between these two teams with a 90-78 triumph in the season opener for both squads on November 2.

Ron Artest had 16 points in his first contest since the infamous brawl last fall and Jermaine O’Neal posted a game-high 19 points with seven rebounds.

Indiana, which has won two of the last three meetings against Orlando, will host the Magic again in the regular-season finale on April 19.

Orlando has won two straight and four of its last five games at Indiana.
