(Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns were crushed by the San Antonio Spurs, 107-86, on Saturday at America West Arena.
Amare Stoudemire led Phoenix in scoring for the 11th straight game, tying Charles Barkley’s team record, after posting 23 points. Shawn Marion had 17 points and Joe Johnson and Zarko Cabarkapa finished with 14 for the Suns, who had won three of four coming in.
Phoenix fell to 2-7 in Saturday games this season. The Suns’ two-game home winning streak came to an end and they fell to 14-17 as the host.
Stoudemire has scored 20 or more points in 11 straight contests. He has averaged 26.3 points and 9.5 rebounds in that span.
The Suns are off until Monday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks. The teams will also play on March 13th at America West Arena and on April 3rd at Dallas. Phoenix won the only meeting of the season between the two clubs in front of it home crowd on November 26, 2003.
