Reggie Miller to retire, sister says 02.11.2005

"Yesterday I spoke to Reggie and after 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, this will definitely be his last season," Cheryl Miller said.
A couple of weeks ago, Reggie Miller vehemently denied that he had informed teammates of his retirement, telling TNT reporter Craig Sager — who broke the story — point-blank that if he did determine this would be his last year he would first inform his sister or Charles Barkley of the decision.
The 39-year-old Miller has played in 32 games this season, missing the early part of the campaign with a broken bone in his left hand. He is averaging 11.9 points and has connected on just 30.8 percent of his three-point tries — well below his career average entering the season of 39.8 percent.
The 6-foot-7 Miller was selected by the Pacers with the 11th overall pick in the 1987 draft and is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 24,685 points. He holds the NBA records for most three-point field goals made with 2,505 and most three-pointers attempted with 6,321.
