(Basketball News) - Tim Duncan poured in 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs past the Sacramento Kings, 101-85, in their season- opener at SBC Center. Manu Ginobili contributed 24 points and nine boards for the Spurs, while teammate Brent Barry finished with 16 points in his San Antonio debut.
San Antonio opened the fourth quarter with a 14-3 burst to grab a commanding 90-70 advantage. Barry and Ginobili each drained three-pointers to highlight the run. Another three-point shot by Barry with 5:13 remaining staked the Spurs to a 93-72 lead.
The Kings then scored the next 11 points to pull within 93-83 with three minutes left, but Ginobili countered with a three-pointer on the next possession to ignite an 8-0 run that put the game out of reach.
Tony Parker, who agreed to a six-year contract extension earlier in the week, ended with 10 points in the win.
The Spurs have a day off before heading to Los Angeles on Friday to face the Lakers, the team that ended their season in the Western Conference semifinals.
San Antonio dropped three of four against the Lakers in the regular season last year, but has won five of the last eight matchups. The Spurs have also won three of their last four in LA.
