Suns go for fourth straight in Denver

Denver, CO (Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns bring their three-game winning streak to Denver tonight when they challenge rookie phenom Carmelo Anthony and the surprising Nuggets to a duel at the Pepsi Center.

Amare Stoudemire scored 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Suns to a 100-98 win over the Miami Heat on Saturday at America West Arena.

Joe Johnson added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Suns, who snapped a three-game losing streak to Miami.

Phoenix scored 100 points for the first time in 12 games this season, marking the longest it has taken the team to reach that plateau to start a campaign. It took the Suns 11 games to hit 100 points at the start of the 1996-97 season.

The Suns are 1-3 on the road this season.

The Nuggets lost on Saturday to the Dallas Mavericks, 115-101, at American Airlines Arena.

Andre Miller scored a team-high 22 points for the for the Nuggets, who lost for the first time in three games. Jon Barry scored 20 points, while Voshon Lenard and Anthony each added 16.

Denver was outrebounded by a 52-43 margin and fell to 2-5 on the road.

The Nuggets are an impressive 5-1 on their homecourt this season.

In 2002-03, the Suns were victorious in three of their four games with the Nuggets.

Overall, Phoenix has won two straight and three of the last four meetings between the two squads.

These two teams have split the last eight contests, while the Suns have won two straight in Denver.
