Wells leads Kings’ offensive eruption in win over Sonics 12.11.2005

Mike Bibby poured in 24 points and Peja Stojakovic added 23 for the Kings, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim chipped in 17 points, while Brad Miller scored 15 points and tied a season-high with 10 assists in the victory.
Ray Allen led the Sonics with 24 points and Rashard Lewis contributed 17 points for Seattle, which played without Danny Fortson, who was suspended one game for verbally abusing an official during the fourth period of Seattle’s 106-90 victory over Utah on Friday.
Ronald Murray added 12 points, and Damien Wilkins and Luke Ridnour tallied 10 points apiece for the Sonics, who have lost two of their last three games.
Sacramento took control of the game during the third period behind a balanced offense and suffocating defense.
The lead quickly escalated to double-digits, 69-59, on Stojakovic’s jumper with just under 10 minutes remaining in the period.
Wells’ finger roll capped a 19-3 spurt that gave Sacramento a comfortable 88-64 edge with just over three minutes to go in the stanza. Wells also converted a reverse layup and a three-point play during the run.
Sacramento scored 30 points during the period and clamped down on Allen and Seattle’s perimeter offense, as the Sonics scored just 13 third-quarter points.
The Kings led 92-70 after three quarters and were never threatened during the final period.
The Kings jumped out to a 13-2 edge as they connected on six of their first eight shots. Stojakovic’s trey capped the spurt and put Seattle in a big early hole.
The Sonics slowly dug themselves out and cut the lead to 31-29 going into the second quarter.
Neither team could pull away during the second stanza, and Sacramento took a 62-57 lead into the locker room.
Wells led all first-half scorers with 16 points and Stojakovic added 15 for the Kings. Allen led Seattle with 12 points.
