(Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns try to start a season with three straight wins for the first time since 1984-85, as they visit the New Jersey Nets tonight at Continental Airlines Arena.
The Suns won five in a row to begin the 1984-85 campaign.
On Friday, Amare Stoudemire scored 29 points with 10 rebounds, leading the Suns to a 108-98 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.
Shawn Marion added 24 points and 11 boards and Joe Johnson scored 22 in Friday’s victory for the Suns, who opened their season with a 30-point win over the Atlanta Hawks at home on Wednesday night. Quentin Richardson scored 15 with seven rebounds and Steve Nash had nine points with 10 assists for Phoenix
Phoenix is playing the second of a four-game road trip tonight. The Suns will visit the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
In 2003-04, the Suns and Nets split a pair of games as both were victorious on their homecourt. Overall, the Nets have won four of the last seven contests in this series. Phoenix has lost four straight and six of its last seven at New Jersey.
