Pierce does it all for Boston

03.7.2006

(Basketball News) - If the Boston Celtics didn’t have Paul Pierce on their roster, they would probably be battling the New York Knicks for the worst team in the NBA.

Pierce has been on fire lately for the Celtics, averaging 34.3 points in his last 12 games. Boston is 6-6 over that span.

He has scored over 30 points in 11 of those 12 games — a feat that has never been achieved in team history. Pierce, who scored an NBA-high 33.5 points per game in February, is the only player in the league to lead his team in points (27.2), rebounds (6.9), assists (4.6) and steals per contest (1.4).

Besides Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers, Pierce is the only other player in the league to net 15 points or more in every game this season.

Boston, meanwhile, has dropped two of its last three games and will close out a small two-game road trip in Washington on Tuesday.

On Sunday, the Celtics suffered a 111-105 loss to the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre. Pierce had 33 points and seven rebounds in the loss for Boston, which is 3-9 in its last 12 road games and 7-22 away from TD Banknorth Garden this season.
