Pistons late rally comes up short; Cavs up 2-0

In a game that initially looked similar the game one, the Pistons bench put on a late rally that ultimately fell short. The Cavaliers hang on for a 94-82 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of seven first round series.

The once-proud Pistons looked overwhelmed at times to the league leading Cavaliers, which reminisced of the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals between Detroit and the Michael Jordan led-Chicago Bulls, in which the Bulls dominated the champion Pistons on the way to their first title.

LeBron James, who will no doubt be named this year’s MVP, lead the Cavs with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists and Mo Williams chipped in with 21 points and seven assists.

The only real significant Piston contribution was from the bench. With the Cavs leading 79-50 early in the fourth quarter, and both teams resting their starters, the Detroit second-stringers lead a 27-5 charge to cut the lead to seven late in the game. Upon reinsertion of their starters, Cleveland was able to regain control to finish.

The Pistons starting unit again failed to execute offensive (settlings for those damn jump shots again) and continued to blow defensive assignments. As the deficit continued to grow, Detroit’s psyche seemed to be buried underneath surface with the Cavs confidence serving as ditch digger.

With the series being relocated to Detroit for game 3, there are questions on the horizon. Can the Pistons recover having discovered a spark from their bench? Will there be any lineup changes from the struggling starters to the enthusiastic bench guys? Will the Cavs be able to carryover and establish road dominance at the Palace?

Next up: the pivotal game 3.

the series is over kid, the pistons don’t even want to bother coming back to cleveland bc its a waste of time, at this point im sure they will just throw in the towel bc they couldn’t win if they even wanted to and go home and enjoy there summers .
