| WHAT: FAMILIES WILL BE GREETED BY MOURNING AND WALKER AS THEY DELIVER THANKSGIVING MEALS TO EACH HOME AS PART OF Alonzo Mourning CHARITIES’ "33 THANKSGIVINGS".
"33 Thanksgivings" is an endeavor Alonzo Mourning has undertaken in order to give Thanksgiving a special meaning for many families each holiday season. Initiated by Mourning in 2000, "33 Thanksgivings" makes special door-to-door deliveries of complete Thanksgiving meals to deserving families residing in underserved areas of South Florida. Since its inception, the number of meals has increased from 33 to 533. Families are selected by partner organizations: 100 Black Men of South Florida, Children’s Home Society of Florida, Department of Children and Families, Honey Shine Mentoring Program and the Overtown Youth Center.
For the past two years, Mourning was unable to personally deliver meals due to his brief departure to New Jersey. New team mate Antoine Walker lends a helping hand for the 1st year on behalf of his organization, the 8 Foundation.
