05.24.2007 - Updated on 05.24.2007

South Dakota native and NBA player Mike Miller and his wife Jennifer are donating $1 million to help ill children.

The money will establish the Mike and Jennifer Miller Endowment Fund which will provide support for Sanford Children’s Hospital.

Mike’s basketball life is being used for much more than what people see...he and Jen are going to directly impact the lives of children and families. Mike and his family are a blessing to our region and its people” says Sanford Health President and CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft.

“Jennifer and I are blessed to have the opportunity to contribute to the Sanford Children’s Hospital during its groundbreaking phase,” says Mike Miller.

His fondation, the Mike Miller Foundation, encourages kids to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and provides aid to disadvantaged or disabled children.

Mr. Miller: I spoke with your wife on a flight from Tampa to Memphis. I was on my way to Amsterdam and she was off to the doctor. I think I had the better deal. Anyway, as you and the family are undoubtedly aware, Jennifer, that remarkable amalgam of thoughtful and and provoking, iconoclastic and out-of- the-box, and caring and healing, told me of your dedication to Sanford. As a Sage IV cancer patient it is pretty easy for me to get on the bandwagon and support medical research but to do it at your age takes a great deal of insight. Kudos to you and good luck with the Olympics thing.M. .
