Bobcats set franchise records in beating Magic

Charlotte, NC (Basketball News) - Derek Anderson scored 24 points off the bench and dished out 10assists, as the Charlotte Bobcats eased by the Orlando Magic, 119-108.

Gerald Wallace had 20 points and nine assists for the Bobcats, who drilled a franchise high 14 three-pointers on 22 attempts. Charlotte also set a franchise mark with 39 assists.

Raymond Felton added 21 points and seven assists for Charlotte, which snapped a season-high eight-game losing streak

Dwight Howard finished with 26 points and 11 boards for Orlando, which has lost three games in a row and 10 of its last 12. Jameer Nelson had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Hedo Turkoglu added 23 points and six rebounds for the Magic, who despite the loss, outrebounded Charlotte 40-27.

Trailing 101-80, Orlando went on a 8-0 run, capped by two straight Trevor Ariza layups, pulling the Magic within 13 with 7:12 to go.

Orlando then pulled to within 10 on three separate occasions, but Charlotte had an answer each time.

The Bobcats shot 56 percent from the field.

Charlotte connected on six of its first eight shots and jumped out to a 17-10 lead early in the first frame. The Bobcats held the margin at seven and led 34-27 after one quarter.

The Bobcats gradually extended their lead in the second period and were in front 62-49 at the half.

Leading 75-63, Charlotte used an 11-3 surge, capped by a Adam Morrison triple to take an 86-66 lead with just under four minutes left in the third stanza.

The Bobcats held a 95-77 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Game Notes

Charlotte guard Brevin Knight left the game at the 8:11 mark of the second quarter with a left groin strain...Orlando shot 49.4 percent...Howard recorded his 46th double-double, the second most in the NBA...Orlando is now 1-21 on the road when trailing after three quarters...The overall series record between these two is now 6-6...The Magic are a game behind the Knicks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
