07.7.2005

El Segundo, CA (Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Lakers signed center Andrew Bynum, the team’s first pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Bynum was selected out of high school with the 10th overall pick and, at 17, became the youngest player ever taken in the draft.

Bynum, a seven-foot, 270-pounder, was a McDonald’s High School All-American at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey. He averaged 22.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in his senior season

Bynum will see action at the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, California from July 8-11.
