Sacramento welcomes Trail Blazers to ARCO Arena

01.6.2007

(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak when they visit the Sacramento Kings tonight at ARCO Arena.

On Wednesday, Eddy Curry scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the New York Knicks defeated the Trail Blazers, 99-81, at the Rose Garden.

Zach Randolph had 15 points and nine boards in the loss to New York for the Trail Blazers, who have dropped six of their last seven games overall. Rookie Brandon Roy scored 14 points and Jarrett Jack finished with 11 points and seven assists in defeat.

Portland is 6-10 on the road this season. The Trail Blazers return home to host the Miami Heat on Sunday at the Rose Garden.

Sacramento also tries to get back on the winning track this evening, as it plays the fourth of a five-game homestand. Superstar Kobe Bryant scored nine of his game-high 42 points in overtime, as the Los Angeles Lakers knocked off the Kings, 132-128, on Thursday at ARCO Arena.

Mike Bibby totaled 38 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss to the Lakers for the Kings, who had a two-game winning streak halted. Kevin Martin tallied 21 points and Ron Artest scored 19 before exiting with six fouls for Sacramento.

On the injury front for Sacramento, center Brad Miller (flu) is questionable for tonight’s contest. Miller did not play against the Lakers and has missed nine games this season. He is averaging 10.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists for Sacramento.

The Kings, who are 2-1 on the current stand, are 10-8 at home this season. They are scheduled to host LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.

This is the second meeting of the season between the Trail Blazers and Sacramento. On November 25th, Martin poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Kings over Portland, 105-85, at ARCO Arena.

Portland has lost two straight and four of its last five at Sacramento. The Kings have won three in a row in this series.
