Analyzing DeAndre Jordan
DeAndre Jordan is a 7’0", 240-pound freshman at Texas A&M. He is very athletic for his size, and his leaping abilites are very good. He is a solid rebounder but needs to learn how to position himself under the basket better. He uses his size, length and quick timing to block shots and make his presence known on the defensive end. DeAndre runs the floor pretty well, and is pretty good in transition. DeAndre is still fairly raw fundamentally, and he needs to develop some post moves and improve footwork.

His offensive skill-set is limited; he scores most of his points on put-backs and dunks. He needs to work on his free throw and mid-range shooting. DeAndre still needs to work on his body; adding strength in his upper body and arms is a priority. Overall DeAndre has all the physical tools you look for in a big man prospect, although his skills are underdeveloped at this point. There is a lot he still needs to work on, and scouts often say that he has a tremendous amount of potential, but that his game is very raw.

However, DeAndre’s potential is so high that he’s a potential lottery prospect even if he has just a decent freshman season. I think DeAndre should stay in college a few years even if he does have a good freshman season, although many project he will be a one-and-done player. When he becomes more balanced on both ends of the floor, he could be a Dwight Howard-type player, but for now he is more like David Lee or Theo Ratliff.

I agree wit Ralph, I don’t think DeAndre will reach expectations, he will probably be a solid player, but not a great one .

I believe DeAndre will live up to his potential, he is still young, so it’s wrong for someone to call him out right now (MR. SIMPSON)! By the time he is 25 he will be one of the best big men in the NBA, you watch and see! Plus with a name like Jordan he has to be GOOD, LOL! .

I honestly, don’t think this kid will live up to his potential. He could very be one of those unfortunate big man bust. I wish the kid the best, but watching him on a regular basis, and seeing inconsistent effort, it hard to see him being that double-threat on the floor .

I agree once he becomes more balanced he could be a Dwight Howard type player. I think right now he plays like Theo Ratliff, or maybe even Tyson Chandler .

I watched him play last summer. He has skills, but no doubt needs to develop. He needs atleast 2 years in college .
