Demetris Nichols is 6’8, 212 pounds is a very player that keeps showing constant improvement, he shows a good work ethnic, and is very coachable.
He is player that makes tough plays look easy. He is solid athletically, and he is a confident in his playing abilities. He moves well without the ball on picks and screens. He is a good shooter off the dribble from the perimeter, and is a pretty good outside shooter. He has long arms and good leaping abilities, which allows him to block shots. He is patient player that lets the game come to him and doesn’t force things. He is good at using various moves to draw fouls, and he is a great free throw shooter. He does a solid job of rebounding the ball and he can be an explosive scorer putting up major points.
Demetris lacks court vision and his passing ability isn’t very good. He is too content with shooting jump shots and should go to the basket more. His jumper can be inconsistent when he’s hot he’s hot! When he’s not he’s not! On defense he lacks focus and doesn’t play with much aggression or passion. His first step is average and could improve. He needs to gain some upper body strength, and needs to work on the release on his shot, it is slow and defenders are able to react to it. He struggles to get separtion from his defenders and it limits him offensively. His ball handling skills also could use some work.
Overall Demetris is an ok player who looked real good during pre-draft camp and his play helped his stock move up. The way he plays reminds me of Rasual Butler.
