Eric Gordon is a 6’3 shooting guard, and will be a freshman at Indiana. He is a good athlete and has high basketball IQ.
He works hard and loves the game with a passion. He is capable of being a big time scorer, and has a nice outside shot. He likes shooting off the dribble on the perimeter with his quick release shot. Eric has a very quick first step, he likes to drive to the basket to draw fouls, and he is a great finisher. Eric is a tough defender that can get steals, and he rebounds the ball well. He has good body strength and good body control, and he uses it to his advantage. He is capable of throwing down some nice dunks, with is great leaping abilities. He is a fast player on the open floor.
A big question with him is, what position would be best for him PG or SG. He plays like an SG in a PGs body. Eric can struggle to create shots. He can become too focused on just shooting from the outside, and he needs to learn how to mix his shot selections up more. His passing skills could still use some work, and he lacks court vision. He can lose control when the ball is in his hands for too long, he should work on his PG skills. He can lack consistency in some areas of his game.
Overall Eric Gordon has a lot of good qualities and is very talented. I think if he continues to improve some areas of his game, he’ll be a solid combo guard in the future. I see some similarities in his game with Bonzi Wells.
