Fresh Prince of UCLA

Fresh Prince of UCLA

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute a.k.a L.R. is 6’7, 227 pounds and will be a junior at UCLA. He is a Prince in his native Cameroon and he has only played about 6 years of organized basketball, so the game is still fresh for him.

He has long arms and a 7’2 wingspan. He is versatile and can play multiple positions very well. He is very coachable, has a positive attitude, and a very hard worker. He is very athletic, is a very good rebounder, and he does a good job of boxing out. He plays pretty good defense and his upside to become an even better defender looks great. L.R. is a good slasher to the basket and is good in transition and a half court set. He is pretty decent on the perimeter, and has great foot speed. He is capable of playing physical in the post, and can almost match up with anyone. He is a decent free thrown shooter, and he plays pretty solid in many areas of his game.

L.R. doesn’t always play with confidence and to the best of his abilities. He still needs to work on his ball handling and his jump shot. Sometimes he makes bad shot selections and he can be turnover prone. He is still getting use to playing organized basketball and he is still improving on his strengths and weaknesses, to become a complete all-around player. He still needs to develop more of an offensive game and he can be too passive sometimes.

I do like his upside and I believe he could become a very good versatile player in the future, being a difference maker on the court. I think once he improves on some things and develops a complete understanding of his game, he could become a Tayshaun Prince type player.

Although I like LR, I think his upside is limited due to the fact he took up basketball so late in life. He has good footwork and natural athletic ability but he’s too mechanical for me to think he’ll ever be fluid/smooth offensively. .

I wish there were more players like L.R. who don’t try and be stars and look to do too much. His hard work and laid back style speaks for itself when he plays. Just like a Tayshaun Prince. They just go out there do what they’re suppose to do and try to get the job done to help their team win games. I think 2-3 years from now when L.R. has developed into a complete player, he will be real special to watch and a difference maker on the court .

Man dude must be sittin on alot of dough being a Prince. Plus he gonna make even mo chedder when he gets to the NBA. He should be ballin fo tha rest of his life. It’s gotta be good to be him, he’s gonna be a King one day, and rule stuff and get any thang he wants. That’s the type of life I wanna have. What a lucky dude! .

Luc Richard is a very bright player, and he does have alot of upside. He is picking up the game real well, you still see times when he is very nervous and doesn’t know what to do, but I think he’ll develop great confidence as he matures as a player. He has a good personality and skills and I think when he enters the draft he might go through what Tayshaun did and that is having teams over look him and he’ll fall late in the draft, but hopefully to a good team that fits him perfectly. I give him 2 more years to develop perfectly and we’ll all see his great complete skills .

I really like watch him play defense. I know alot of people might find that weird that a person likes watching someone play defense, instead of watching exciting offense. But L.R. could be a future NBA defensive stopper. I would love it if he became a Tayshaun Prince type player in the future. Go L.R. you rock! Keep up the hard work and great improvements in your game .

L.R. is very underrated. I think he coul dhave a break out year this season, because he’’s been improving each season and seems to be getting more comfortable as he gets use to playing organized basketball .
