Yesterday Greg Oden worked out for Portland. Flocks of fans stood across the street from the Trail Blazers practice facility, along with lots of media, to try and get a look at Oden.
Greg admitted he was tired after his workout, he said "really I’m trying to sell them on me, not the other way around". He also said "all I can do is me".
The owner Paul Allen, GM Kevin Pritchard, and players Zach Randolph, Brandon Roy, and LaMarcus Aldridge watched him. Paul Allen said "seeing Greg in person, it’s not just his size, it’s his amazing athleticism. You can see the potential there. Kevin Pritchard said "what came out is that he’s a really good person who cared about how he did in the workout". He also said "he’s a unique talent, to have an opportunity to get a kid like this is a great opportunity for this organization".
Pritchard also mentioned the organization is keeping an open mind when it comes to it’s selection. Paul Allen said "this gives us an incredible opportunity to improve our franchise for the next decade, so you have to be extremely careful, but it’s a lot of fun".
Oden helped lead Ohio State to the championship game this year and played great with 25 points and 12 rebounds. For the season Oden averaged 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds a game. Kevin Durant will come in for Portland on Friday. No matter what I still feel Portland has to take Greg Oden, he is rare and has great potential, and he fits right in at Portland.
