Is Brandon Rushing It? 05.4.2007 - Updated on 05.4.2007
 | | | | | | | | | | Lately I have been wondering if Brandon Rush made the right decision to enter the draft. When I watch him play he reminds me of his older brother Kareem, who was decent for the few years he was in the league, but now is struggling to stay on a team, that’s partly due to injury. In my opinion I think Brandon would have been better off staying two more years, he would’ve been more ready for the long-term NBA career by then. Brandon is capable of scoring anywhere on the floor, he has the right size to play guard/forward, and he has a 6’11 wingspan. He plays tough defense, is a good shooter, has lots of quickness, and handles the ball well. Brandon is very athletic, is a decent passer, has stepped up his leadership skills and has quality intangibles. He needs to add more strength to his body to be able handle the long NBA season and all that comes with it. He is not the best decision maker on the court and needs to improve on that, he has improved his ball-handling but still is turnover prone. He still doesn’t really dominate in a game, he doesn’t take enough shots to be able to tell if he can play well against bigger and stronger players at the pro level, because has struggling with them in college. So I feel Brandon is rushing it and the result may or may not show a few years from now. In my mock draft I have him being drafted in the first round going to Miami at number twenty. There is a good chance Brandon could end up just like big brother Kareem being a journeymen trying to find work each season. |

Posted by Billy Akers on 05.7.2007 | He most definetly rushed it. But thats what most of the players in this draft did. . | Posted by Jamesion Cowherds on 05.7.2007 | Kansas don’t need either one of them and they both rushed it, they get caught up in their own hype, and it will back fire on them like it did Kareems older brothers. . | Posted by on 05.7.2007 | Honestly I think him and Julian Wright are overrated. . | Posted by KU FAN 4 LIFE on 05.7.2007 | Brandon will be just like his older brothers JaRon and Kareem, that family always rushes their talent. They have the perfect last name. . | Posted by Megan 2301 on 05.7.2007 | I agree rushing it not always good, when you wait its always better. Thats why I wait for ever for you Lance so we’ll have something that will last hopefully. . | Posted by Red, White, and Blue on 05.4.2007 | I heard Joe Dumars is very high on Brandon, and could use the 15th pick on him. Thats good money, and the right team to be on. I think it all depends on where he ends up, and that would definetly be a win-win for him. . | Posted by P on 05.4.2007 | You gotta look at the big picture what if he gets hurt, thats what brought Kareem down in the first place. I thought Brandon was going to actually make a good choice by staying becuase he took a long time to make the decision. He might regret it, but it’s his life not mine. . | Posted by Just do it! on 05.4.2007 | He would be a beast overseas thats his worst case scenario. I think it’s worth the risk, the rewards are much greater! . | Posted by Marcellius Issackoff on 05.4.2007 | To me it’s hard to say because he doesn’t have a set spot where he may go. He’s a mid-first rounder to a early second rounder, that’s to BIG of an unsure gap, to be taking risk in coming out. . | Posted by taylor on 05.4.2007 | Thats a very good question by Lance did Brandon rush it? I think he did. . | Posted by Mr. unknown on 05.4.2007 | I think kareem is better than brandan and if k can’t make a team, what is in line for b? . | Posted by Not Paid! on 05.4.2007 | Got Paid? you’re an idoit thats all you do is talk about money. Thats not the only thing in this world. You’re probably really broke and put on this front like you have money when you ain’t got squat, homie. Get your mind rght man. brandan is better off staying two more years and getting his degree to fall on in case basketball doesn’t work, just take a look at Kareem Rush. This is never a guaranteed career. It’s nice while it last, but when your time is up then what do you do. And definetly when you’re under 25 or 30. It’s happening more and more, to solid young players who have potential but rush along there skills before they’re ready, you know what I’m saying? . | Posted by Got paid? on 05.4.2007 | Man $6 mil ain’t nothing after 5 years, they running outta dough and gotta make some more bread, and stack it up. It’s time to get paid right now, forget school you can’t make no good legit money there. I feel him go get that new money, become a Rich Boy, and throw some Ds on it. Be a baller on and off the court is my motto. He seen what happend to Kareem and knew the time to get his money is NOW! I never feel a player is rushing when it comes to money, we all need it, it makes the world work. He’ll be fine and if not he can still smell the nice money, while it last! . | Posted by What’s the Rush 4? on 05.4.2007 | Kareem probably didn’t want to look like a hypocite and say you shouldn’t come out early, because K did it himself, but K stayed for years and had awesome numbers. B’s is just ok but could’ve did the same thing next year with Julian being gone. So I agree he did rush it. . | Posted by Thomas Jackson Jr on 05.4.2007 | I agree with Lance about Brandan rushing it, there was no need to go to the next level that quick, you would think him of all people would stay. He has a close up look of what his brother is going through. They have already made $6 mil from Kareems contract. He should have waited to develop into an even better player, and get drafted higher next year, and be making more than Kareem within 2 seasons. Huge mistake by Brandon I think. . | Posted by TORRANCE on 05.4.2007 | KAREEM HAD THAT IN LA, AND DIDNT GET IT, IT MAY ALSO BE THE SAME WAY FOR BRANDON TO. . | Posted by zk on 05.4.2007 | Miami is the perfect spot for him, he’ll have a chance to play right away and prove himself with some older champions. That should take him under his wing. . | Posted by Milan on 05.4.2007 | Brandon is a little better than Kareem to me, but I don’t see him being a star maybe Shandon Anderson or Derek Anderson type player. . | Posted by on 05.4.2007 | Kareem was a good player, why can’t he stick with a team, he was cut by seattle, if you’re cut by them you can’t possibly have much game in your system. Hopefully that doesn’t run in the family. . | Posted by Jessica S on 05.4.2007 | Recently he made a statement that he wants to beable to take care of his family and thats why he’s coming out early. But umm what the heck Kareems money wasn’t enough to help out. Did he take Sprewell 101 in school, the author of I can’t feed my family on $21 million dollars. I’m sure they would be fine for 2 more years. . | 1 2 Next >
