Is Sean Williams a risk?

Is Sean Williams a risk

Sean Williams is 6’10, 233 pounds and is a solid player on the court, but off of it he could be a potential hazard. Earlier this year Williams was let go by Boston College for marijuana realted issues, basically failing another drug test.

Sean Williams is 6’10, 233 pounds and is a solid player on the court, but off of it he could be a potential hazard. Earlier this year Williams was let go by Boston College for marijuana realted issues, basically failing another drug test. On the court Sean is one of the best shot blockers I have seen in years. He is a huge defensive presence in the lane. He has an amazing wingspan 7’5 wingspan and loves using his length to block jump shots on the perimeter. He has quickness on defense, can steal the ball, and is a decent free throw shooter. He is a solid rebounder, and scores most of his points with put-backs and dunks. He is a good defender man to man, and a good help defender as well. Sean has great physical tools, and is very athletic and knows his role on a team.

Seans jump shot doesn’t go beyond 7 feet, he should be a better rebounder with the tools he has. He tends to get into foul trouble very often, and needs to add some body strength so he can be more of a center. Needs to develop a go to move, and work on his offensive game outside the paint. He’s not the most positive player, and could help if was surrounded by mature veteran players to learn from. He should work on his fundamentals in the post and not always depend on his athleticism. He also is passive, and has a one track mind to just crash the boards. Sean also has a low basketball IQ still learning how to play the game.

He has a lot of potential, but he needs to stay focused on basketball and doing positive things off the court. He’ll find himself out the NBA real fast if he continues to fail drug test. At best Sean could be like Theo Ratliff, at worst Jerome Williams. Teams will think long and hard if his potential is worth the potential baggage that comes with it.

The perfect fit for Sean Williams would be for him to go to Miami, and be paired up with Shaq,D-Wade,and ALonzo Mourning. The guy who wrote this article said he would flourish with veteran leadership, and what team has more veteran leadership than Miami? And if he would even attempt to act up,Shaq and Zo would break him in two,so hopefully,he knows better. .

As a BC alum I got to see a lot of Williams over the past two years. Great defensive player, one of the best ever at BC, but a liability on the offensive end. He needed to play both this year and next to become a lottery pick but he smoked those two years away. Teams that are looking at him have to think about him like it’s drafting a kid out of high school — maybe there’s a return on the investment 2-3 years down the road if he’s straightened himself out and improved his offensive game, but he’s not going to contribute now and there’s a chance he becomes a complete bust. My guess is he goes in the mid-20s. .

DID ANYONE SEE SOME OF HIS BLOCKS I’M. WHY ARE WE HAVING A DEBATE ON A GUY WHO BLOCK 12.1 pts, 6.9 rebs, 1.2 asts, 1.4 stls, and 5.0 blks per game Williams has turned himself into a decent free throw shooter through sheer hard work, and shoots about 70% from the line, up from about 51% the pervious season. Against Kansas, one of the top teams in the NCAA he had 19 pts, 15 rebs, 3 stls, and 7 blks. He followed that up with a triple double his very next game, dropping 19 pts, 10 rebs, 2 stls, and 13 blks vs Duquesne I don’t care who someone plays When a Guy has 13 Blocks in a GAME IS there any other question. Who ever gerts him will get a steal .

Another thing, no other player in this draft has the raw athleticism that Sean Williams has, esp. in terms of blocking shots. The only other person could be Oden, but Sean even surpasses Oden with raw athleticism. we’re talking about a kid who can touch the top of the backboard, easy. Thats not an exaggeration. .

Actually, Sean Williams would be at least a top 5 pick. I don’t know if anyone watched any BC games this year, but he was so dominant in the paint, it was ridiculous. There are many cases of players who got in trouble in college and have gone to the League with no consequence. ie Caron Butler There are plenty of cases where a player with no record has prven the opposite. ie Ron Artest. I’d def take a chance on the best shot blocker in the draft, with a wingspan of 7’5" who can alter any shot on the court. A player this dominant has to be scooped up, He has Bill Russell shot blocking potential. .

Ok the person that made the comments before Roman, seems like he doesn’t know much about hoops. He said many things wrong. First off Sean isn’t a top 5 pick. Secondly, if other players are smoking guess what they’re smart enough not to get caught multiple times. Third, he is more of a risk cuz he smokes and gets caught unlike other players. The NBA would have his azz out the league real fast if he kept smoking trees and getting caught. He is not worth the headache, he has talent but you can find a clean player with less risk to give you similar production. .

I think you’re smoking a top 5 pick. He is a one sided player. There are atleast 2 things a team shouldn’t do, and that’s pick Sean Williams in the top 5, and give Ben Wallace a $60 million dollar contract. Yeah they may be great defensively and have great upside. But that’s going overboard for players like that. .

He might seem like a "risk," but who isn’t? How many college students drink or smoke? Considering how well he played when he was smoking, I can only imagine his potential when he’s clean. I think he’ll be a top 5 pick. .

It’s cool Lance, it was still a good article. I think Sean is a potential risk, I wouldn’t take him. .

I don’t think he’ll be as effective in the NBA, therefore I wouldn’t select him, he could very well fail more drug test. He is the type that don’t learn their lesson the frist 30 times, and people give them chances to redeem themselves. This draft is deep enough to find someone with similar talent and have less risk or being suspended over and over. .

He is great defensively, but he is a risk because he is likelly to fail another drug test. He’ll be a steal for the team that does take the risk. Because his past will scare alot teams away. .

I live in the BC area, and I do believe he has Theo Ratliff potential. I hope for the best with Sean Williams, he has talent, and needs veteran guidance in his life. .

He is worth the potential baggage with the potential he has on the court. People took chances on Rodman, Artest, Sprewell, and many other troubled players. The only difference he hasn’t proved himself in the league yet. .
