Joey Dorsey is 6’9, 260 pounds, and is a senior at Memphis. He has a lot of strength and has his way with smaller opponents.
He is an excellent rebounder and shot blocker, and he plays solid defense as well. He always gives a tough battle in the paint, with his aggressiveness and physical style of play. He has good length and good leaping abilities, and he is a massive dunker. Joey has good athleticism, he has some explosiveness, and he runs the floor well. He is the type of player that does all the little things to be the difference maker on his team. He has a nice effective drop-step move that he is able to score with sometimes.
But for the most part he doesn’t have much offensive skill, and most of his points come from put backs and layups (which he also misses sometimes). Joey’s shooting skills from the field and free throw line are below average. He gets into foul trouble, and he is turnover prone. He doesn’t have very good lateral quickness. Joey is older than your average college senior, and his upside looks to be very limited, what you see is what you get from him. He has made some minor improvements on a couple of weaknesses, but it’s still not close enough to where a lot of his production should be.
Joey does have a few good skills to be a contributing role-player in the NBA. A funny thing about Joey is how he likes to talk a lot of junk, but his yard is not big enough to fill it with, so he usually ends up looking silly for a statement he said. As a best case scenario Joey could be a Ben Wallace type player, as a worst case Reggie Evans.
