Love and Basketball

That seems to be a good combination for Kevin Love. His dad is former NBA player Stan Love. Kevin is 6’9, 260 pounds and will be a freshman at UCLA.

He has a very high basketball IQ and will enter college with polished post skills, like Spencer Hawes did last year. He loves to play inside the paint and bang hard, and he puts up big stats doing it. His wingspan allows him to do 7 footer type things. He has a lot of toughness, passion, and is very competitive. He plays well against other talented big men on offense and defense. He does a good job of creating his own shots. Kevin loves to use his strength and quickness to dominate the boards. He has great court vision and wonderful passing abilities. Kevin shows great footwork and has great leaping abilities. He is a good athlete, is developing consistent range on his shot, and possibly hasn’t reached his peak physically yet.

Kevin has a wonderful personality to go along with his wonderful skills, and he is a fun player to watch. Kevin lacks speed in the open floor, but has some quickness in his step. He is more effective in a half court set up, rather than an up-tempo.

He can sometimes struggle in transition. He has had some knee problems in the past, but it hasn’t seem to effect his game yet. Some observers say what you see out of him now is probably what you’ll see for the rest of his basketball career, I say it’s still too early to say whether he has any more upside or not.

Overall Kevin has good all-around playing skills and it’s obvious he loves basketball. Whenever he decides to go to the NBA I think he could contribute right away. He has many similarities with Carlos Boozer.

K.Love is gonna be hard player to defend once he gets used to having an outside game, to go along with his fierce inside game. I hope he stays in college more than one year to dominate at UCLA, then move on and continue his domianation in the NBA. I love the passion and love that he brings to the game of basketball. .

Man I just seen this kids stats in high school, they are truly insane and unheard of. WOW! it has seriously blown me away! It looks like he has the potential to be one of the next greatest big men of all-time, I know it sounds like I’m getting ahead of myself, but watching clips and seeing his stats, he looks to be the real deal. .

I think Kevin could post numbers like 18pts and 10rbs a game next year. I like the Carlos Boozer comparsion, how about another Duke PF as well Elton Brand. There could be some similarities there as well. .

K.Love definetly reminds me of Carlos Boozer in many ways, K.Love can hit the deep shot alot more consistently. K.Love should shine big time in the post at UCLA, they have alot of options with players, but he should get a good amount of touches. I’m with Long John Silver I don’t see why Kevin doesn’t get the love his fellow cla-------members get. I would say he is a top 5 in that class, yet they treat like he’s a mid-teens prospect. Show them boys how it’s done on the court K.Love! .

I agree Kevin Love and Carlos Boozer have many similarities. Like Rob P was saying I also love th fact that Kevin plays with that hardcore passion and physical toughness in the post. I miss that from big men. I think in the next few years we’re going to start seeing that again, from players like K.Love, Spencer Hawes, Roy Hibbert, Greg Oden, Smardo Samuels, Jason Maxiell, Carlos Boozer, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Sean Williams, Amare Stoudemire, Hasheem Thabeet, Brian Zoubek, and maybe a few others will bring the post position back. Instead of all these slender athletic runners and perimeter shooters. .

I don’t understand why Kevin doesn’t get as much love as the other high profile prospects in his class. He is just as talented on bigger. Quite honestly I think he’ll have a better career than most of them. .

I love the fact that Kevin plays with hardcore passion and physical toughness in the post. He is a true big man, these days it’s hard to find players like him that like contact and don’t just stand on the perimeter and being soft. .
