That seems to be a good combination for Kevin Love. His dad is former NBA player Stan Love. Kevin is 6’9, 260 pounds and will be a freshman at UCLA.
He has a very high basketball IQ and will enter college with polished post skills, like Spencer Hawes did last year. He loves to play inside the paint and bang hard, and he puts up big stats doing it. His wingspan allows him to do 7 footer type things. He has a lot of toughness, passion, and is very competitive. He plays well against other talented big men on offense and defense. He does a good job of creating his own shots. Kevin loves to use his strength and quickness to dominate the boards. He has great court vision and wonderful passing abilities. Kevin shows great footwork and has great leaping abilities. He is a good athlete, is developing consistent range on his shot, and possibly hasn’t reached his peak physically yet.
Kevin has a wonderful personality to go along with his wonderful skills, and he is a fun player to watch. Kevin lacks speed in the open floor, but has some quickness in his step. He is more effective in a half court set up, rather than an up-tempo.
He can sometimes struggle in transition. He has had some knee problems in the past, but it hasn’t seem to effect his game yet. Some observers say what you see out of him now is probably what you’ll see for the rest of his basketball career, I say it’s still too early to say whether he has any more upside or not.
Overall Kevin has good all-around playing skills and it’s obvious he loves basketball. Whenever he decides to go to the NBA I think he could contribute right away. He has many similarities with Carlos Boozer.
