Roy Hibbert the 7’2, 272 pound junior center for Georgetown is testing the waters of the draft, if he stays declared he’s projected to be a lottery pick, and I can’t remember the last time a high projected lottery pick pulled out.
I’m not a gambler but I know many people who do, and when someone plays the lottery it is always a risk involved. I’ll discuss Roys lottery playing draft wise that is! Throughout the NCAA season and tournament this year Roy had impressive performances and improved his stock in my opinion more than anyone else. He became a better person, had better basketball skills, and his team played better when he’s on the court. Roy proved to me he’s a legit prospect with his match up against the equal size Greg Oden, he played well on both sides of the ball.
Roy has developed many moves, hook shots, spin moves, the jump hook, and even 17 foot jump shots at times. Of course he can throw down massive dunks, and he can also cut to the basket. He still needs to work on his back to the basket game, and his court mobility he’s quite sluggish. Roy has good passing skills, can create his own shot off the dribble, can move around alot offense, not afraid to want to take the game over when needed, and can react to double-teams. At 7’2 he’ll already be one of the tallest players in the NBA, that will work to his advantage. He has nice hands, rebounds and blocks shots real well, and he is very aggressive. He has become the number two center in the draft and he’s becoming pretty crafty in the low-post using his size effectively.
Roy lacks athleticism, doesn’t have quickness, he still should develop a consistent go to move, work on his shooting, jump shots and free throws and also become more coordinated. With all this said Roy is definitely at a high point right now and he is holding a nice lottery ticket in his hands, that is worth millions of dollars, I won’t hate on him if he decided to cash it in, he has earned it. I would say he is a top 10 pick and at his best he could be Zydrunas Ilgaukaus and at his worst Michael Olowokandi.
