Day 1 of Orlando Pre-Draft Camp

 05.30.2007 - Updated on 05.30.2007

Day 1 of Orlando Pre-Draft Camp

I’m gonna give you an exclusive on how day 1 went in pre-draft camp, there was good bad and ugly from players, but overall it was an interesting day. Here are some briefs on players that stood out for different reasons.

Daequan Cook- He struggled big time, he didn’t seem to focused, his ball-handling skills were bad. He had a tough time against stronger older players. He definitely looked like the youngest player in camp.

Taurean Green- Looked very confident, played good defense, did very well drawing contact and finishing at the basket. His jump shot was inconsistent. Overall his confidence level was helpful showing everyone he is effective on the big stages.

Dominic McGuire- Had a sweet putback dunk that wowed everyone watching. He went to the basket real well, his jump shot is still suspect, he showed a lot of his potential tools. Alot of personnel will be keeping a close watch on him, he is an interesting player.

Reyshawn Terry- Is off to a good start, he looked very focused, his jump shot was definitely working for him. He showed a lot of his physical tools. He showed why he was underrated doing all the little things. If he continues workouts like the first one, personnel may see him as a first rounder.

Jared Dudley- Showed he could do all the little things to help him and his teammates, he had alot of nice passes. Had a few nice scores and wasn’t too flashy. He showed off his court vision and his playmaking abilities.

Aaron Gray- You can tell he lost about 15 pounds and that he’s been working out hard. But as for his first day in camp, he didn’t stand out, his teammates weren’t looking for him much in the post. You couldn’t see much of him and he will need to show personnel why they should select him other than his size.

DaShaun Wood- Made alot of awesome plays, showing off his PG skills, showed a lot of confidence, and had some nice floaters. He had great court vision, did well in transition. He looked like a complete player on the first day, and if he continues this all week long, his stock will rise big time.

Trey Johnson- He showed a good combination of scoring and passing skills. He was consistently knocking down shots. He showed good fundamentals on defense. He definitely looked good on the first day an although he was already on scouts radar, it continues to increase.

Russell Carter- Missed a lot of shots badly, he just really struggled to score. He didn’t really go to the basket, he drew a lot of contact, but didn’t go to the line. He really needs to improve this week if he wants to still be considered a lock to be picked in the second round.

Ramon Sessions- He played well as a PG distributing the ball, making good decisions. He didn’t do too well going to the basket and didn’t finish well either. At times he did alot of things similar to Steve Nash. Overall he didn’t look too bad but will have to show more and do it consistently.
