Hasheem Thabeet: The Big 7’3 Question Mark

Hasheem Thabeet The Big 7 8217 3 Question Mark

There is a big question going around that is unclear and that is what will Hasheem Thabeet do. His rep Oliver Noah hasn’t been real clear and UCONN coach Jim Calhoun says "too many people in his ear", so it’s kind of hard to figure out what the 7’3, 265 pound center decides on, will he go pro or develop a second year at UCONN.

He is a good runner on the floor for his size, does a decent job of getting in position in the post, and he’s a good shot blocker. He has nice hands, and many great physical tools. He is a decent rebounder, and he also has decent post moves. Hasheem has some upper body strength has room to build more, he is also very athletic.

He needs to improve on his offensive skills, become a better free throw shooter, and work on his back to the basket game. He also could work on his footwork, boxing out, and his court awareness. Hasheem is not a very good finisher at the basket, he needs a few years to develop and understand basketball fundamentals since he is still new to the game. With his size and speed combination, and a player with talent who hasn’t even come close to his potential, teams would be willing to take him and develop him slow.

He has been compared to Dikembe Mutombo with a much stronger body. He is a rare player that could be taken anywhere from 20-40 in the draft. Most of my regular readers know how I feel about big men leaving early without being ready, I don’t agree with it, but it’s not my choice to make. But as for my view on what Hasheem Thabeet should do, I believe he should come back at least one year to develop some more and get a better understanding on playing basketball. Due to family situations the NBA money could help provide a better living for them instantly, so after next year declare for the draft and he should be a top 20 pick. He’ll probably be sent to the NBDL for more development and can start getting an understanding on the NBA game. I would give him about four years before we see his complete full developed talent.

Hasheem Thabeet can be a very productive center in the pros. Right now he should stay at UConn and develop his talent under a good coach. I think he should stay his sophmore AND Junoir years before declaring 4 the draft. I really like his game, and staying will only help. Although if he does want to leave sooner, thats his choice. He should do wut he feels is right. .

Hopefully he wont end up like Manute Bol. All players need time and from what ive read and seen he does. If he puts his heart into it he should be in first round. But then again drafting numbers dont really mean anything. If he markets himself right and trusts the right people hell get paid. .

I liked the review on him I only seen one game of him, and based on that and Lances view I agree he should come back atleast one more year if not more, he needs all the work he can get. He needs to raise his stock, and find a good perosn looking out for his best interest like coach Calhoun to help him with basketball and life. Right now he doesn’t seem mentally ready for the pro hoops world. .

Look boy scout or future scout, or futurama, whatever your name is, you don’t know squat about evaulating talent, thats why you’ll never be a scout. If he has nice workouts he’ll be a first rounder, and being paid to develop in the NBDL. Thats what it’s there for. He wants to help his family and he feels he’s ready for the challenge of the pros, thats his choice. He has talent and just needs to learn the NBA game of basketball not college. Start looking for a new career choice because scouting ain’t it. .

Deal or no Deal he needs to come back, he’s no where close to being ready for the NBA skill wise and mentally. Thats the problem with players they rush development for the almighty dollar. He will only hinder his progress and potential by coming out now. .

Man you’re so wrong, he doesn’t have a secure position right now to come out. He coul dbe a 1st or 2nd rounder, he needs a nice 1st round deal. .

I think he should come out now, and save his family, he’ll be getting paid and still developing in the NBDL, he might dominate there. .

I love my huskies and I agree with Lances review on him totally, it’s gonna take some years for him to really adapt, but when he does lookout for him. I say come back one more year develop a little more. Then come out and save his family with a better secure spot. .

He will be talented when he develops. Future Defensive player of the year. Rebound and shot block king, guaranteed! .

He should stay in college, his game isn’t even close to NBA ready. .

He could be Mutombos secret son, or maybe he was in the sun too long. .
