Hot Draft News Updates

As we get deeper into the NBA playoffs, we also get more draft news flowing in, so I will start giving readers updates on the hot buzzing stories.

The other day I spoke with someone close with the Boston Celtics who asked to remain nameless, but the person did confirm to me that the Celtics truly are looking at 10 players in this years draft. The person said right now they’re waiting on the draft lottery before they can really get down to business. But the person said they have been working on the assumption that they’ll have the number 2 overall pick, as of right now. The players they are looking at are Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Brandan Wright, Al Horford, Mike Conley Jr, Yi Jianlian, Spencer Hawes, Corey Brewer, Julian Wright, and Jeff Green. The person said Kevin Durant would probably be at the top of the list right now. The person also said they would consider trading their pick if the right package deal came along, but right now they’re leaving all their options open.

Kevin Durant has signed an endorsement deal with upper deck, they will market Durant in all of its 2007-08 products, and on its packaging. In just one year his popularity has rose high and they wanted to jump on the opportunity. There is also a rumor circulating that he’ll sign a shoe deal with Nike a possible deal of 5 years worth $40-$50 million dollars.

In a recent interview with draftexpress.com Tiago Splitter is unsure right now about his immediate future. He really wants to come over to the United States and play in the NBA, but he has one year on his contract, and his team wants to keep him. He has a $1 million dollar buyout for 2008, so even next year he is not technically free. Tiago is expected to be a top 15 pick no matter when he is able to play in the NBA.

The Celtics will end up losing out of the first to picks and end up with number 3 or something. Theu no longer have the luck of the Irish. Everytime there is a bright spot coming their way a could seems to come over it and rain on their parade. So I’m just expecting the worst right off the bat. .

The only reason to look beyond the first two picks is if they don’t get either pick, they may then trade a 3/4/5 pick for a vet and a lower draft pick. .

The C’s are considering 10 players because they could pick as low as 5. Obviously if they finish in the top 2 they’d choose Durant or Oden. And there is no way they will trade Big Al. You don’t trade a kid who is 20-10 material. They’ll probably sign him to a sizable extension this summer. .

Danny and his staff are dumb if they’re really considering 10 players in this draft. If you are at number 2 you don’t even need to look at 3 players, it’s already a given. Quite honestly number 2 is the best spot to have because you don’t have the burden or choosing between the two players it’s just process of alimination. Danny PLEASE DONT mess this up for the Celtics. .

Danny Boy, Oden or Durant are the logical choices. Unfortunately, logic and Danny boy have little in common. Suggest he help Mitt (another goofy thinker) run his campaign. Would Cousy be interested in running the show for a short period of time? .

If Yi Jianlian is the next Larry Bird I’ll never watch the NBA again. Boston better go with Oden or Durant and maybe even Mike Conley Jr, all the others forget about it. .

I hope Tiago can come out this year, I want to see what he’s about. Durant is gonna make alot of money with endrosements, way more than Greg. The Celtics are weird why consider all those players what the heck would Jeff Green do for the Celtics? You gotta take Greg or Kevin, otherwise everyone in the Celtics organization should be removed for messing this one up. I’m out! .

Quite honestly I think we should weigh our options lets see what other teams offer us, for the pick. We may be better off rebuilding that way. I’m not saying we are but lets see where we at in the lottery for sure frist. .

No matter what we do, we can’t mess it up this year, everything is in Bostons hands. We gonna handle the business and get it done. No more playing around in the east, the dominate Celtics will live again and take over the NBA. Lets get the next Bill Russell in Greg Oden and do tha damn thang!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

Can the Celtics really screw this up? They can’t end up with another Len Bias, or get gipped like not getting a Tim Duncan, or end up picking another Chauncey Billups. They need another Pierce a slam dunk pick who will change the franchise or atleat give it a face. Greg and Kevin are the only 2 in the draft capable of doing that. .

Danny Ainge and his staff should be fired for even considering taking anybody other than Oden or Durant, and thats for real. .

Man Durant is gonna make alot of money. Oden is not as marketable so he may lose out alot of millions. I think on and off the court Kevin Durant is better all the way. He’ll take a struggling franchise to the next level. Boston Better take him if they have the chance. .

Common on man you can’t be serious, Greg Oden and Kevin Durant could come in and play now. Jermaine is always injuired, Danny will never bre what Oden and Durant are. You people need to think about what type of deals you’re hoping for. If you’re gonna trade go younger and with less expensive contracts. Not for high paid used crap. .

I actually think they should trade Pierce, the Pick and cash and get more value of players that can play now. Like what about getting Jermaine O’neal and Danny Granger and a future pick. .

The best thing for the C’s to do is to trade Pierce to the 76ers for Andre Miller. Then take Kevin Durant with their pick. I don’t think thats a bad trade. .

Man that blows. If Tiago Splitter can’t come out this year, and possibly next year to. He’s got skillz for real and I’m ready to watch him play here in the states and dominate the NBA. .

No doubt I agree Dick. Green Pride may be talking out of his... lack of information LOL! (From the ESPN Promo people) Anyway the best thing for them is to take Durant, and pick up a veteran point guard, and rebuild from there. .

Dude thats a dumb deal. Why would you do that? Picking up a trouble maker who’s getting older and looking for a big payday soon. Instead going with two young rare talents that are inexpensive and help you rebuild. Plus they have Green and Pierce at the positions already. They can go out and find a decent verteran to run the offense, now that seems more logical. .

I’d love it if the Celtics traded down and picked up Ron Artest and used their pick to get Mike Conley Jr. I know that sounds stupid but that deal seems logical to me. .
